Last Wednesday, I went on an interview to become a member of the Curriculum and Assessment Writing Team. Sounds like a boring thing, but I'm a bit of a dork when it comes to data and standards. I pride myself on knowing my grade level's standards inside and out. Hey my about me says I'm a self proclaimed nerd and it's true!
I hadn't heard anything so I figured if I wasn't chosen I wouldn't be heartbroken by ANY means. If I got it, it would mean extra money and a good opportunity; if I didn't it would mean more time for me.
So much to my surprise, I found this email in my inbox yesterday:
Now while I don't teach second grade, I have before (it's my favorite). I do have a lot of content knowledge and I think that's why I was chosen. I have a meeting with my team lead today at 7:30 p.m. I'm a bit overwhelmed at the idea of being part of such a big project for my district; but at the same time it's such a huge validation of my year. This has been the first year where I have felt secure in my career and in my knowledge.
It's going to be completely time consuming but the extra money will be nice. Hopefully I gain some respect from my new principal about this project too!
So send positive thoughts my way that this goes smoothly and is not as stressful as I imagine it will be!
WOhoooooooo! Positive thoughts coming right at ya girl! :D Hope you and your guy have gotten to relax with all the "heavy" yet fun things going on! <3 Hugs
